OL Group 2011

Did your student enjoy his or her orientation experience? Is he or she looking for an opportunity to get more involved on campus? We suggest that you encourage your student to apply to become an SFA orientation leader!

Orientation leaders (OLs) are essential to the recruitment efforts of the university and the success of incoming students. These students assume many responsibilities, including helping in the preparation of all orientation sessions, providing information to future students and family members through small and large group settings and, most importantly, promoting SFA in a fun and comfortable atmosphere.

OLs train throughout the spring semester and are paid to work each orientation session during the summer. These students gain invaluable experience while having fun at the same time. Each year, OLs report they have gained confidence, improved their communication skills, increased their knowledge of the university, made connections with other students and staff, and built their leadership abilities. This is truly an elite group of students who are recognized across campus for their hard work, professionalism and SFA pride.

For more information about the OL position, please go to www.sfasu.edu/orientation and click on the “Become an Orientation Leader” link on the left side. All applications and required documents must be turned in by Nov. 4. All applicants will be contacted regarding a group interview date and time. Becoming an Orientation Leader is a wonderful opportunity, so encourage your student to apply today!
