Ten years later, the events of September 11 are still fresh on many of our hearts and minds. The Office of Student Affairs Programs facilitated several events this past week in memory of those events. Our office appreciates all the help and support from the campus and community in making these events a success!
- More than 30 students, staff and community volunteers helped place 3,000 flags on campus as a visual reminder of the widespread loss ten years ago.
- Athletics sponsored 2,500 patriotic lapel ribbons which were passed out at the Sept. 10 game against Northern Iowa.
- The SFA community wrote 125 letters and posed for 140 photos to send to troops overseas.
- Approximately 250 people attended the Sept. 12 Memorial Ceremony, which featured remarks from SFA President Dr. Baker Pattillo, a speech from Lt. Col. Todd Reichert, SFA’s ROTC commander, presentation of colors by SFA’s ROTC, the national anthem sung by Debbie Tompkins, and a moment of silence in memory of the events of Sept. 11.
Below is a slideshow of photos from these events. A special thanks to Hardy Meredith, SFA’s official photographer, for contributing many of these photos.
